Vasanthi’s* father did everything he could to keep control over his daughter. He abused her verbally in a drunken rage to stop her from going to school. He forced Vasanthi to work as coolie along with her mother to earn extra income. He planned to marry her illegally to rid himself of the “burden” of having a daughter.

KRF was able to rescue Vasanthi from a life of abuse and neglect. Now, she can be her energetic, lively self and receive love, nutritious food, and education—as all girls deserve.
