Kanya Raksha Foundation (KRF) is a not-for-profit organisation that works to save girls’ lives to end the atrocity of female gendercide in India.
Our mission is to rescue infants and young girls from female foeticide, infanticide, deadly neglect, abandonment, child marriage, and from harmful situations of trafficking and other vulnerabilities. Once victims are rescued, our social workers provide ongoing support for girls through a customised Comprehensive Care plan that caters to their physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual development. We ensure that girls and their families are educated on the inherent value of the girl child. We empower women by providing opportunities for economic independence. We promote systemic change through legal advocacy and behavior change work with the justice system and community respectively. All of this work is conducted in partnership with indigenous, grass-roots partners across the different states of India.
Donations are tax-deductible under section 80-G of the India Trust Act, as allowed by law. KRF is registered under the India Trust Act 1882 as of 2018.

Female gendercide is the mass killing of girls and women because of their gender. In India, 63 million girls and women are missing from the population because of female gendercide. Learn more about this issue here.
We want to keep girls in their families as much as possible. We identify whether families are safe through counseling & help. Girls only stay in family homes if they will be safe there. Social workers regularly meet with the families to check on the well-being of the girls.
If their family home is NOT safe, girls live in safe homes with clothes, food, protection, education, and mental health care. We have standards for these homes – they have to be financially accountable for how they use the money we give them.
We empower girls through education. Our partners send all girls to school and are also required to educate on female gendercide. All girls are receiving education on their value & that the preference of sons is wrong.
